We have come to the conclusion we prefer Christmas and then childrens birthdays to our own - most be the lead up and all the preparation that invloves

Christmas, everybody is still skint when it's my birthday two weeks after Christmas.

Christmas is a time for kids and to be a kid. Birthdays are a pain in the backside.
Christmas is my fave time of year. My birthday is in June, but I can do without it!

My birthday is in May and its a nice little way to split the year up
Fancy a swop then vodkancoke.
If I had to choose then it would be Christmas - Stepdad died on my 40th birthday and my wife died the day after my 55th so don't celebrate birthday now.

Perhaps you could use the date to celebrate the time you had with her - maybe do something you always wanted to do togther
On the first anniversary last year, I took some flowers to the grave then went for a drive down our favourite route through the North Wales mountains to Betws y Coed and had the biggest strawberry sundae in Cadwaladrs (Welsh Ice Cream company) they had to offer - enough for the both of us!!
Christmas is ok, but I hate birthdays. Birthdays are for children.
