Morning Dee. Sorry to read about the fire in your house in the GM thread. Can I suggest the following to get rid of the smell:
Wash down all walls, cupboards, woodwork etc
Buy an industrial quantity of baking soda. Sprinkle it on your carpets, leave overnight and vacuum up in the morning.
Leave bowls of baking soda in all the rooms. It really does absorb smells.
Without giving yourself hypothermia, try and leave as many windows open as you can.
Use Febreeze to spray over your suite, curtains etc.
Good luck
Cider vinegar is the answer and worth popping out for some if you don't have any Dee. Put swveral bowls of it around the house. It will smell strong and will soak up the smell of smoke in a day. The vinegar smell itself will wear off in an hour or so.
