Several places have cancelled their NYE firework displays because of the wintry weather.

some weather's more wintry than other weather. Should be fine in London tonight and everyone can watch it on TV, but if it had been last night the fireworks would have been doused in the storm and the Eye would have rolled away like a hoop.

Not so many last night as some recent years.  But at least they are over and done with quickly, unlike around Nov 5th.
