velvet jackets
I have been wearing velvet jackets for about 15 years and have many in a variety of colours - and in all that time I have had about 3-4 comments about how nice the one I was wearing is from other velvet jacket wearers - now, i the laste month or so I have had strangers in shops, friends who have seen the same jacket 50 times, people in my local etc etc commenting with sudden great sincerity about how 'gorgeous' my jackets are, and wanting to know where i got it, and when I tell them i can't remember where I got them from they don't believe me!
I find this fakery and fashion following and the bizarre over sincere exclamations of something they wouldn't have looked twice at 2 months ago quite annoying and extremely shallow and tedious, and the compliments meaningless.
only good thing is the charity shops will be full of them in a few months - rich pickings for me!
has anyone else had this same situation with this or other 'new' fashion trends?
i've had similar situations in the last few years with turquoise jewellery, hippy skirts and general 'ethnic' clothing, bags etc, though not as much as this velvet coat thing.
