wedding rings - insured, valued and replated
5 Answers
I tried posting this question a couple of days ago and now i can't find it!! never mind...
does anyone know how much it costs to (rhodium) replate white gold and how long it takes? also i need my platinum engagement ring polishing, as well as having all 3 rings valued and insured.
can anyone recommend somewhere and possibly give me an idea on price and how long it takes? (ie. do they all need sending away). Hope that makes sense, sorry if it doesn't!!
Thanks xx

i went into town today trying to find some reputable independent jewellers - all shut with it being bank hol D'OH!! anywho, went into the shop we bought the engagement ring from, and she told me that they do a valuation day where you don't have to send your rings off and they send the documents and photogrphs in the post for insuring (major plus). the houssehold insurance only covered upto a certain amount for jewellery, so it looks like i'll have to insure individually - but onbiously its worth it in the long run. even better, my engagement ring can be plated for free under my 10 year diamond guarantee, though she did say platinum doesn't need it as often as white gold, it'll make it look lovely and sparkly again. the wedding rings can be replated for 14.99 each and only takes 2 days - yay!
thanks everyone for your help, really appreciate it as always xx xx

just to add to this (again), we took our wedding rings in to be plated and we collected them the other day and they look unbelievable!! it was actually only 13.99 per ring and the manager even said i should have just told them that all 3 rings were from them so i got them ALL free...but i couldn't do THAT...but only because i'd already told them they weren't! D'oh!
Just in case anyone searches for an answer on the same thing I was asking, they were very helpful and i'm over the moon with the results, so even after all the problems I've had in the past with some of my jewellery there (which i won't bore you with!) i'd definitely recommend ernest jones for replating jewellery!
