Hosiery Suggestions

I want to wear a knee length dress to a formal do but do not want to expose my legs.

As it is a summer do I'm not inclined to wear opaque tights and had thought I could wear some lacy/patterned tights that have a disruptive pattern and will hide the the irregularity of my calves.

I've been looking on line and can spend a stonking amount on a pair of wear once Wolfords but am struggling to find a more reasonable High St solution. I've looked at the M&S website which I find challenging at the best of times and can't find any.

Can anyone suggest anywhere to source patterned tights in summer or another means of disguising my legs whilst still wearing a skirt at a formal occasion?

"Hold-ups" are good but don't know where you'd get patterned ones. The go half way up the thighs.

Butterbun, I'm happy to wear tights/stockings/hold ups it's the patterned bit that has been giving me bother, they seem less popular in the summer:-(
