Will Just Washing With Water Leach The Dye From My Hair/Ruin My Dye?
11 Answers
I literally just dyed my hair this morning, and now I need to take a shower. Problem is, I can’t get out of it. Long story, but in short my hair is now impure, not greasy and curable with dry shampoo.
I, however, do have the option of showering with just water. If I wash my hair with just cold water and no shampoo, will I lose a lot of color? Will my dye be ruined?

Use colour care shampoo and don't massage too much, You should rinse until the water is clear anyway or the loose dye will stain clothes, sofas pillows etc. If it's a dark shade as it is obviously a semi-permanent colour you should expect to lose about 10% on the first wash. Never use head and shoulders on coloured hair unless you want to get rid of a more lot of the colour.
I have showered using just water on greasy hair and it did nothing and I might as well not have bothered. If you need to clean your hair and don't need to shower then use dry shampoo. If you need to shower and don't need to clean your hair use a shower cap........are you talking about using a mikveh? because in that case isn't that more important than your hair dye?
Er ok let me try and be clearer. I have already washed the dye out. After a couple hours, something happened, as a result of which I wouldve had to wash my hair. As it is I have managed without washing. But this question was to enquire whether skipping shampoo would lessen the amount of colour I would lose. I know you lose dye on the first wash. I was trying to enquire whether using no shampoo would minimize how much I lose.
Anyway, I've handled it now. Thanks for responding, everyone! :)
