shaping tights

Can anyone recommend me a good pair of tights (or stockings if there are such things) that will give my legs a bit of help? I don't need that control top kind, my tummy is ok, it's my thighs that are the danger zone :) I don't want to pay a huge amount because I end up ripping tights and stockings all the time. Probably �7 is the most I'd spend unless someone has a totally wonderful brand they know of.
