Winter bunnies

Can any experienced rabbit owners please advise - I have two rabbits and Ive moved their hutch into the shed for the winter. They are free range bunnies and as long as its not too wet outside they have the run of the garden during the day. But I worry about them being too cold at night and am considering bringing them indoors overnight until the weather is milder. Is this infact necessary as Im also concerned that bringing them into a centrally heated environment may not be very good for them either - after all they have their winters coats etc. Any advise much appreciated

Hi, stop worrying.... They will be fine in the shed [as they would have been in the garden]. In the shed they will be well protected from wet and windy conditions. Make sure they have plenty of fresh dry bedding, I used to use a mix of hay and straw. Don't overnight them in the house as the extra warmth may prevent them from growing their full winter coat.

As Divegirl said, they would have been fine in the garden, just make sure they are not in a draught and can keep warm and dry with good clean bedding. Taking them in doors will probably make them ill as they are not used to those temperatures and a very unnatural environment.

My two rabbits are in a 5ft hutch in the garden and I went on ebay and bought a weathershield that has press studs on and clips onto the front of the hutch - the hutch is bone dry and the rabbits very happy!
