skiing holiday + what to wear
hi everyone
me, partner, son are all about to go on our first ever skiing holiday: austria and I just wondered what we'd need clothes -wise? Got salopettes, ski jackets, boots, gloves etc, but do we need anything else? What do you wear under the salopettes? Thermols, jogging bottoms?? Any tips greatly appreciated

I normally wear leggings or tights under salopettes, but later in the year it's too warm to wear anything under salpoettes on your legs. Layering is the key. Dont wear one thick jumper, wear lots of layers-better for keeping heat in and you can always take off what you dont need (I rarely ski now without a small rucksack-one thats small enough you dont have to take it off on chair ski lifts cos believe me trying to get onto one with your poles as well in a queue of boisterous skiers if you've not had much skiing experience would be no fun)!
Wear tube socks with no seams in in your boots. Sunglasses/goggles essential. I always take my googgles with me cos if it turns rough when you're on top of a mountain you'll need to see to get down and sunglasses wont offer enough protection against wind and blown snow/ice! Whilst not on the slopes I just wear normal clothes and sensible shoes-I've never bothered with 'moonboots' they might be practical if it's actually snowing down in resort but I dont like looking like a wally and would sacrifice practicality for style! lol
Can't think of anything else at mo. Hope you have a great time and I hope you have good snow!
PS take some indulgent foot cream. I've not been skiing for two years but it was always immense relief for me to get boots off at the end of the day as no matter what one's I tried they gave me cramp and having some lovely peppermint to whack on them at the end of the day was only thing that kept me going in afternoon! (that and the odd gluhwein!)

M&S do thermals, this is all you need to wear under your jacket and salopetts. sometimes i wear a tee shirt over the termal.
The essentials are alos :
ski sox
hat
gloves
PROTECTION - ie wrist gaurds, knee brace, knee pads (for boarding not sking)
Sun cream factors
goggles/sun glasses
nightime just usual jeans, tee, hoodie and some trainers/boots.
our have a great time, if you forgot anything then they sell everything in each resort.
