Beckers Nevus Treatment, Experience or any input??? Please read
2 Answers
Hi all,
I've got a Beckers Nevus, and for all those who dont know what it is, its a pigmented patch that normally occurs in adolescents and gets larger through pubity. most of the time Hypertrichoma (or summin) occurs which is where it gets rlly hairy. but mine isnt.
Anyways its always bothered me, n i used to be a rlly good swimmer in my youth like even swam in the nationals but i got overly conscious n gave up cusa my beckers nevus.
people who have seen it have never rlly cared but its more of a personal thing, i know its there! it covers my whole left shoulder.
Anyways im wondering if anyone is the same and if they know of any treatment, ive just turned 18 and going to uni soon and ive decided to do something about it now!
if i cant find anything to restore pigmentation i think im going to have a tattoo to cover it, what do people think on this? input is much appreciated!!
also it does cover my whole shoulder so so will the tattoo so does anyone have any suggestions on what type of tattoo could cover it without looking terrible??
sorry 4 this being long but im interested to see what people think??
thanks in advance!

If anything, I think that it's likely to make the pigmentation more noticeable. (i.e. a pigmented area might not necessarily 'leap out at someone' but a pigmented area with a tattoo on it might well do so).
As the Channel 4 website points out, neither Richard Gere nor Heath Ledger have been held back by Beckers Nevus, so why should you be?

Hello, my name is Natalia. I am almost 18. Firstly, I would like to applaud your courage of even sharing with the world your flaw. I too have bekers nevus and it bothers me also. When I was younger it didn't seem to be as large, hairy or troublesome. But, now especially being a female and wanting to feel confident in t-shirts and dresses, it is a struggle. I am sorry to hear that you quit swimming because of this rare condition. I'm sure you were excellent AND STILL ARE. I've never done swimming. But, I have given up on wearing t-shirts and dresses because my bekers nevus. I went to the doctor a little while ago, and they said sometimes laser treament is an option. But, be CAUTIOUS AND DON'T JUMP IN TOO EARLY, because it can sometimes make it worse. But, of course it is wise to discuss this with your own doctor, as your beckers nevus and mine aren't identical. Getting a tattoo sounds cool, although I've never thought of it for myself. I don't have any tattoos, but ultimately it is your own personal decision. All in all, I am glad we aren't alone. I trust you will make the right decision. GOD BLESS.
