What is the actual size of a suit length?

Could someone please tell me how much material I need to make a gentleman's suit. Iv'e tried Googling what an actual suit lenght is but to no avail.
My apologies for not adding - A two piece suit for a large gentleman 48" chest & 40" waist

four yards should be more than enough. No shorter than 3.5 yards especially if the cloth has a pattern.
wow can one of you two make me a suit to fit....ill pay you �50....
I presume you have a pattern; if so....find width of suiting material and lay pattern pieces out to fit onto imaginary material. Generally tho' twice jacket length plus twice trouer lenght plus turmings and matching so I would agree that 4 yards is about right. Remember measure twice --cut once!!
