Killing Time In Hospital Part I - Terrify A Junior Doctor
24 Answers
Scenario - Junior Doctor is fruitlessly stabbing my arm trying to find a vein and throwing the detrius (wipes, cotton wool etc) all over the bed. I casually remarked that when he was a teenager his bedroom was a tip and drove his mother to distraction. As he was of Middle Eastern extraction I hazarded a guess that he had been a mummy's boy. He was looking warily at me and then I told him I had "the gift." Over the next few days his colleagues provided me with useful personal information about him which I fed back to him in dribs and drabs. On the morning rounds he would hide at the back of the group of doctors but I continued to single him out with my uncannily accurate predictions. He then took to avoiding me altogether. As I was going for a morning stroll I saw him coming towards me. When he clocked me, a look of horror spread across his face and he opened the nearest door, went through it and closed it behind him. Five seconds later he was propelled out of the door by some irate domestic staff who had been having a crafty skive in the cleaning cupboard. I gently laid a hand on his forearm and he ran away whimpering before I could even speak.

Great stuff mrs o. When I first read the title ''Killing time in hospital'' I thought it was pointing out a time of day when certain patients were being dispatched. WR.

You Sataness !
The Arabic for devil is Shaitan (/shy-tan/)
You're lucky he didnt put a drip in each arm and then plaster it
Good to hear you are back
I found the hallucinations from Morph too awful to bear
Being chased down the road by a pack of dogs with body parts in their mouths is one
but hell you know - one isnt on it for life !
get well soon

Funny - I wondered what NfN would be in Egyptian Arabic
kwayis ashaan Qift (good for Qift) ..... or
zaki zai Qift ( bright like they are in Qift)
It depends on whether they know Guft (note cute vowel change) is the back of beyond near Qena. which is itself a squalid rural slum near Luxor.
We had a 'touched kid' - European teenager who was borderline autistic or something and all the Guftis adored him as they felt he was nearer to God.
Your junior doctor clearly didnt think you were touched....
