Hi try. I have had a pet portrait drawn from a photograph - it was drawn by Julie Rhodes in Cornwall. She did an excellent portrait (it was a Christmas present for my son and he was delighted, so much so that he said it was the best present he'd ever had.) Julie covers all sorts of subjects - wildlife, pets, people, motor bikes and cars even. She has a website or if you Google her name + portraits you'll find her. You won't be disappointed.

I have a PhotoStudio program by Arcsoft, and it enabled me to do this with my avatar.

I just did it quickly without any fine tuning.

Personally, I don't like doing them, my theme being old buildings, as some pf you may have seen in Arts in the past. The reasons - the perspective can distort in the lens and, secondly, I would argue that buildings can have emotions and these don't translate easily. I know that sounds daft.
I have a commission and hopefully starting it to tomorrow, subject to family being down here at the moment.
