I am 27, so definitely legally an adult.

Is it possible for my step-dad to legally adopt me? He’s been my dad for most pf my life, but I would love to make it official for him for a christmas present.

Can I do this?

and just to balance the opinions No https://www.gov.uk/child-adoption the child has to be under 18 - you may wonder how you can have yes and no at the same time - see above but hey this is AB and there is NO normal here.... - and the answer is that the ref in (1) is an American site ( scroll down until you get to the bit about - the law varies in the various states....)...

You could always change your name to his by deed poll.
If you have different surnames, how about changing your surname to his by deed poll. Show him the documents at Xmas. Friend of mine did this, his step dad was in tears.
Oh Danny I hate you, Mr Speedy. LOL.
I know we're in 'Law' but as it's Christmas - get a personalised certificate made up for him.
Two minds Sam :-)
Prudie's right. You coul try sapelesam's suggestion, though you don't actually need to change your name formally unless you're wanting to do something official (passports etc), just use his name
Yes Jno, but deed poll gives you a document, official can mean the world to someone.
can do, sam; then again if LittleSquidge hasn't used his name before the difference will be just as noticeable.
It would be nice to hear from LittleSquidge.
it's not like she's been away from the thread for long!

Thank you, everyone!

I’m afraid I’m married, so changing my name to match his isn’t an option now. Not without confusing our bump’s future school, etc, anyway.

It would have been nice (especially with the impending baby) for him to formally adopt me, but at the end of the day, I suppose it’s only a piece of paper!
As all else has failed, I would go with Mamyalynne's suggestion and get certificate made up. Maybe a poem of what he means to you. Good luck to you.
LittleSquidge, I just decided to look up poets who write personalised poetry. Found iwantapoem.com, have a look, could be perfect.
