We passed a small shop the other day with a large bowl of black bananas for a pound. My daughter got them and found a recipe for banana bread

She made it and brought some on our trip to Brighton today to watch the marathon.
Fabulous. And I am now going to make it myself.

Thank you Boxtops. She told me that she used milk and vinegar instead of buttermilk and she didnt put in any nuts. It looked and tasted amazing. Grandson was wolfing it down too!

This evening I went in to Tesco and siddled up to a member of staff in the fruit/veg section. I asked if he had any black bananas. At first he acted dumb. Then he said they throw them out. I said I needed them for a recipe so did he have any. He then said he had thrown some out five minutes ago.
So tomorrow it is round all the small shops in Hayes that put out bowls of dodgy looking fruit!

Good idea Redhelen. I love walnuts and they are supposed to be very good for you, so will add those too.
