Credit costs, and the more 'unsuitable' you are deemed to be, the more expensiveit is going to be.
A tennant with CCJ's (County Court Judgements) is seenasa bad risk on both counts. Financial institutions like people who own homes, they are less likely to disapear in the middle of the night, and with clean records, less likely to end up in prison and default.
The 'admin' charges are another way, in addition to high interest rates, for the loan company to hedge its bets, and cover its costs in the case of the loan recipient not getting to the end of their repayments.
Sorry to sound so negative, but that's the way it is. Why not consult your local Citizens Advice Bureau for debtmanagement advice, which is free. No point 'borrowing' more money to get out of debts you already can't pay.
cheers andy, don't need a loan myself never bothered with them and no one is gonna lend money to me anyway at the terms i would want, but my mate just out of jail needs to set up a bookbinding business and after his wife has fleeced them to poverty it is his best chance to get a start.
oh and CHILLUM, I to confess of all the jocks i have ever met i cannot say that it was just a minority that wouldn't shut up, especially when drunk, did more than enough talking about how many people they had beaten up, and on the whole were noticably mean with money. i first realised this when i was an artificer apprentice at HMS fisgard in 1976, we were all sposed to be boffins and anything we could get away with we would do, ie a pinball machine in the NAAFI if you tilted it you could tip it up and roll the ball into the free game slot and clock up loads of free games. one lad from stirling would struggle on his own to do it and then sell the games for 10p each. others would leave them for anyone to play. one of my lodgers buys a pack of cans when it is his turn but we have to give him the money for them he is from inverness... i could go on. i am not being insulting this is an observation over 30 years.
and Chillum, my D.O. made a list of who was fighting in the naafi on a saturday night over an 18 month period and it was 95% scots. i also saw a table of charitable donations per person by nations. the Irish gave the most per capita followed by the belgiums, luxembourg, portugal, etc. last two were scotland then latvia Q.E.D.
i am not a nasty person, if you knew my life story you would imagine i am full of bitterness, but no this is just an observation.
i can also tell a scots person by looking at them they are after all ethnically distinct from the anglo norman creed and i can see it!
well mr piper im a scot and just want to inform you that not all of us are made the way you make out, infact i woudve been only too happy to give your s called friend the money he needed but youve ruined it for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I better go hide now as no doubt you will know me a mile off???no wonder folk like you give yourself a bad name.
This is exactly what i am talking about, for some reason scots have this in built national paranoia. if you had said anything about the English of the same vein, they would have noted the fact but would have admitted where the facts were correct without being offended. and that is a strength not a failing. but for god knows what reason some people have got to defend themselves as though they are under attack, i have seen it so many times with scots. My daughter in law is scottish and she heartily agrees with my observations. i mean no offence to anyone. these are my experiences. and i stand by them.
she also has to admit that i can recognise scots people by there features and i prove it to her often, it was a scots girlfriend of mine that originally pointed it out showing her family photos to me. but of course it is wholly offensive to scots, which i cannot see an englishman doing were it to be directed to them, what are you worried about?.
and by the way, i, at least say these things because i believe and have for some time believed them to be accurate observations, i am not mearly being sarcastic or "avin a go back"
