do kids actualy use crayons these days

I need cheap colouring items for kids at the street party I am already ordering food from asda so I have looked at their colouring things and there is

10 pack of fibre tip pens 24p
and
6 pack of crayons 20p

I am going for the cheaper smaller packs so they can be spread out along the table.

Do the thin crayons i.e (not the chunky jumbo type) snap in two when being used?

It to draw on thick brown paper just because we have a huge roll of this.

Any help please, I would go for thicker coloured pens but they only do thin ones.

Oh yes!!!

Mines 6 and is drawing and colouring in mad. She'd love either the felts or crayons to be honest, though if you dont want mums grumbling about kids felt tipping all over each other, because they will, i'd stick to the crayons.

Permanent markers it is then :)
Would chalk work on brown paper?
No, almost certainly not.
ahhh, permanent markers....God love 'em! Still remember elder mini boo as a tot colouring in the cats nose.
How the hell did they manage to do that to a cat without requiring a trip to A&E for lacerations!
the cat probably just thought it was a temporary job it could wear to the party.

lol thanks guys :) that really helps, I wouldn't have a clue
The thin ones snap depending upon the abuse they get from little hands.
Hasn't brown paper got a 'shiny' side and a 'dull' side? Wouldn't the chalk work on the latter?
I hated wax crayons at school. They made my fingers sore :(
dunno Chuck, the cat was a soft sod, so she probably got it in headlock, it fell asleep, and voila....one red, which eventually faded to bright pink and stayed that way for weeks, nose.

now I have logged on they are not offering me any of the same products...thats pants only the expensive ones, they mustn't be available in my area :(
have you got a Rymans or Staples near you. either of them might have what you want.

well I'm not planning on moving my big fat bottom out the house for a few days so... no but if I do I will know where to go :)
How lovely to see someone so enthusiastic.
The thin ones do snap easily, I woud got with the chunky ones, you only need to give each child two or three, they can swap colours if they wish, but they will work better I think!.........have a lovely party!..............

lol star its called a holiday... few days off work, feet up cider in one hand pasty in the other jobs a good-en

Thanks welsh :)
Thought you were organising a street party what-the? I was admiring your enthusiasm.
Chuck, that's your worst answer ever; of course chalk would work on (non-shiney side) brown paper. Better still, forsake colour and try charcoal, but good luck with the cleaning up!
