What cycle carrier for a 2005 Ford Mondeo

I'm looking for a 2 bike Cycle carrier for a 2005 Mondeo hatchback but having difficulty due to being told that there are no suitable fixing points under the car and I don't want to risk damage to the rear bumper (also noted on some websites) . Does anyone have any ideas. I don't have a towbar but have Thule roofbars but don't really want to put bikes on the roof. If I need to fit a towbar, what is the best for security and quality at reasonable price. Or does anyone have a rear carrier which works and doesn't restrict the boot opening when in situ, or cause dmage.
