Removing a security tag

I bought a pair of shoes today but when I got them home I realised that a tag was still attached to them. I thought that they were supposed to alarm when you leave the shop with them but apparently not!
Anyhow is there some way that I can remove the tag without having to go back to the shop? They were only cheap so don't really merit a journey all of their own!
The tag is one of the type that the assistants put into a mechanism and the back part seperates from the front. Maybe it is some type of magnetic connection?

Thanks.

Today is a good day to bury bad shoes.
that happened to my boyfriend. there is no way to do it really...otherwise whats the point of them? unless mybe you know a local shop that has the same mechanism
If you go back to the shop they will think that you have stolen the shoes.

Does anyone else here agree with me on this front?

Not if she has the receipt!
I wonder if the looters will have the same problem.
I dont think that this is the most sensible thread to publish tonight..... wouldnt surprise me if you were reported.
If you've got the receipt it should be no problem
You didn't did you Shivvy?????
if you still have the receipt, go back to the shop. I had a top i bought in a sale that they left a security tag in, I couldn't be bothered to take it back to the shop cos it only cost two pounds. The security tag was in the collar seam so iI cut it out, it made a hole of about an inch long which I had to sew. So that wouldn't work with shoes.
Why DT?

Shivvy is not the only person this has happened to!!!

isnt it obvious ummmm - the looting.
If this video doesn't match the type of security tag which you're referring to, simply enter 'remove security tag' in a Youtube search. (There seem to be loads of videos!)

This happened to me on a pair of shoes but it was the type bolt-cutters could remove. Like notafish it also happened with a top and I was so cross I pulled at it until the top was ruined!

Never thought about the lootings when I posted this!!

DT - Who might I be reported to and what would they do??!!

I have the receipt so I wouldn't anticipate that there would be any problems bringing them back. Anyway, it was the shops fault that they didn't remove the tag - not mine.

Buenchico - that isn't the same type of tage but I'll go and have a look on youtube - thanks.
This happened to a friend once with a dress. She took it back to the shop with the receipt and even though all the alarms kicked off when she walked in through the shop door, the staff were very understanding and removed the tag with no quibbles.

Don't know why it didn't alarm as I left the shop. I wish it had and then I wouldn't have this hassle!

By the way, top marks for funny posts go to douglas and funnygirl !!
The same thing happened to me at Morrisons a while ago after I had used the self service checkout. I forgot to get the tag removed from a bottle of whisky. The alarm went off as I left but I didn't make the connection and nobody stopped so I just continued home. I was looking forward to a drink so was not a happy bunny when I realised I couldn't open the bottle. I returned to the store, fortunately with the receipt. They were a bit iffy at first. The funny thing was that when I went back into the store with it the alarm didn't sound
this question will help clothes rioters-not very bright
