i have bet my son i will not go to the supermarket for a month so i can=
save money for roof repair
use up freezer goods
cupboard goods
him to buy only essentials,i.e.bread,milk,veg.etc
i love going to supermarket but i do spend about £60-£100 each time i go which can be once or twice a week, and i buy stuff i dont really need or buy it for someone else,do you think i will be able to do this.?????????
Oh slinky.kate.I have just said almost the same to my OH.I am exactly the same, and have 3 freezers full to almost overflowing! I told him not to let me go supermarket for a month, and that he will have to get essentials. Wonder how we will get on.......Good luck to you, Id be interested to hear if you manage!!By the way, I just got back from Morrissons £60, having been to Tesco on Wednesday £60.!!!!!!
using all the stuff in your freezer and cupboard is a tremendously satisfying feeling, its like giving the kitchen a spring clean with the benefit of saving money
beattie are you really serious,i decided i will take one thing out of the freezer and work my dinner around that, should be exciting to see what i come up with, making mac and cheese tonight as i have to use up this cheese ans milk.
I've tried working through my reserve...but as soon as I see good quality meat on sale-I buy it. Since I only have a small freezer,I doubt there's enough in it for a month.
I make a list & stick to it - case of having to, I'm afraid. Luxuries from today's shop? An éclair for someone else that was scrummy (sorry again), 8 loo-rolls for £3 & some bananas - it's a thrill-a-minute here...
I have almost halved our monthly shopping bill by only shopping online once a month and then doing loads of my own cooking and baking. I just nip down the local grocers/butchers/fishmongers for fresh stuff (that I haven't got in the garden) and round to the corner shop for milk.
