Coin collection

I really don't know where to ask this question, there doesn't seem to be a relevant category. I have about 50 of the old 12-sided 'brass' threepenny bits and I wondered if they have any value, scrap or otherwise. Or has anyone got any ideas about using them decoratively? Seems a shame to just chuck them out. Thanks for your help.

A price indication for nickel brass 3d is at the bottom of the list. They need to be in pretty spectacular condition or uncirculated to get these prices. If your coins have been pocket change then their value is greatly reduced

I too have some of these coins but as Milvus says they are not of much value unless in mint condition. But you may find a numismatist to take them off your hands by Googling or even try putting on Ebay and get a few bob for them.

If you have £5 worth of the old 5p coins you can pay them in to your account at a bank.

follyfancier - 5p coins used to be much bigger, the size of an old shilling. They became smaller in the 1990's, as did 10's and 50ps. I work in a Post Office and would take old 5ps (or 10ps or 50ps) and change them for face value. Couldn't really do that with thrupny bits though. Maybe you could just sell them as a job lot on e-bay.
