You get the odd trilby, usually brown, depending on where you are at the track I suppose the parade ring is a bit posher. The hoi-polloi usually wear flat caps if at all. the last time I went there were a lot of young fellows dressed as 'country chaps' wearing flat caps, checked shirts, yellow tie, waistcoats and cord trousers and brogues.

When in the countryside go for a colour reflected in the earth. eg Browns and greens. You won't go wrong.

Blacks and blues for the city.

I've been wearing cloth caps for years to cover my bald pate. Just noticed that most other flat cap wearers are old duffers. So, I'm getting a hat.

I don't go to the races very often these days but when I do I wear a Panama or fedora depending on what the weathers like.
