Shirt buttons

Hello everyone,
my missis bought me a nearly-new Gap shirt from a local Charity shop, extra-large, and tailored for a man, so no chance it's a woman's garment. However, the buttons are on the opposite side to what you'd expect, i.e. on the left side when you've got it on. It doesn't bother me, I fumble a bit doing it up, but I've never come across this before - do some countries/manufacturers tailor shirts differently? Just wondered. yes, they seem to. My OH just bought himself a Mountain Hardwear softshell - new, definitely a mans, but he says the zip is on the wrong side for a mans jacket - didn't bother him that much as he's just bought another!

Thanks Annie, I thought it might be the work of a teed-off seamstress in a Hong Kong sweatshop, but perhaps it's just we're entering the Unisex Age!

Men's and ladies garments always have the buttons done up on opposite sides. Go in any clothes shop and see for yourself !

Maybe these mens garments are for left-handed individuals. How considerate! ;-)

I have trousers, skirts and blouses that do up on different sides. I don't think the manufacturers stick to the old fashioned way of doing fastenings one way for men and the other for women any more.
