Yesterday morning Mrs McM ordered a plastic compost bin and was offered free routine delivery, estimated 2 to 3 weeks or pay premium for next day. Opted for free delivery and it's just been delivered. I ordered three books from Amazon late Wednesday evening and opted for free delivery rather than express and they too arrived this morning. Anyone had similar experiences?

Yep, it's good. I guess this is a quiet period, so it isn't worth paying for "express"; at Christmas time however I'd not rely on he free delivery.
yes i tend to find with amazon going for free delivery is v quick. ordered something mon afternoon and it arrvied weds
Yes indeed - I think most mail order sellers are running so far 'under capacity' that nearly everything gets sent out on the day of order - just depends then on the courier companies (who are also pretty unstressed at the moment).
Not being able to get out much i use mail order all the time and find most excellent
My OH ordered a GPS sports watch from Amazon on Friday. Said it would arrive by 13th which was Tuesday. Postman left a card yesterday to collect it from PO as too large to get through letter box. I expected a large envelope type package. It was in a box the size of a very large shoe box ! No wonder he couldnt get it through the letterbox. I expected it must be filled with polystyrene balls or something, but no, just scrunched up paper.
I had to deliver to a huge Amazon distribution centre the other day.

I can confirm, they are very quiet.
