I love the smell that you get in New Age/ Hippie shops and Festival stalls. I don't know what it is, maybe its just the insence etc. However, I used to have a bodyspray that smelled just like this but it is no longer avvailable. I am looking to find another perfume or spray that has the same scent. The label on my old bottle says that it contained Bergamot, and Vetiver. Can anyone help me find this smell??

Thank you

you may find that patchouli is another ingredient in the incense smell you describe..why dont you buy the essential oils and some almond oil and mix it yourself??the body shop used to mix scent i havnt been in for ages so i dont know if they still do..neals yard sell all the oils and sprays allready mixed they have a shop in manchester and london and also a web site..you could also do a search for new age shops and see if you can find what you are looking for..
Lush make a fragrance called Karma which may well be what you're looking for.  Check their website for the ingredients - or if you have a shop near you go in and have a sniff!
Amongst other fragrances, I still burn Patchouli incense sticks - it brings back so many memories of the hippie days & my husbands smelly Afghan coat!
I use a Patchouli deodorant. I get it from http://www.veganstore.co.uk/kiss_deodorant.html.

My boss reliably informs me that Patchouli was THE smell she remembers being everywhere in the 60s.
Oops that link didn't work.. try this http://www.veganstore.co.uk/kiss_deodorant.html

Yes patchouli oil is what I would say was the most evocative .. but it sounds as though you had a product fragranced with various smells.  Good idea to mix your own stuff from oils. However, the cheapest way of identifying that sort of smell is to buy some joss sticks and burn the fragrances in turn;  if only you'd asked when you were present with the smell - the perfumed products you want were probably available.  I see from honkeytonkman's link that patchouli perfumed deodorant is available.  I'd like some of that.  Sub-thread: I have been using the plain Crystal fdeodorant for years and can thoroughly recommend it.  It is very economical and doesn't leave white marks over  clothes.  It might be healthier, too.

I expect there are lots of things available from shops at Glastonbury, but I can't offer a website. Every other shop there sells New Age paraphernalia. I'm sure you could track down shops in Glastonbury by googling in 'glastonbury mail order'.

I buy my Patchouli incense sticks from Wilkinsons of all places!

The incense Nag Champa smells a lot like hippy shops too.
it's patchouli. if you have a whiff of that, you'll see. pathcouli, all the way.
