sound activated key finder

Can anyone recommend a sound activated key finder key ring? I have looked on Ebay and there are some really cheap ones, but I worry the way I chuck my keys around, and how they get squashed at the bottom of my bag, that they will break.There are ones that are whistle activated.. . do I need to be able to whistle? Because I can't. It looks like some come with a whistle, but that's just something else to lose. So basically, I think I want one that will beep AND flash when I clap or shout. Are there any good, strong ones with batteries that will last a long time?

You may get more than you bargained for. I had one of these, and it worked fine. Unfortunately, it was with my car key, and when the car radio was on, certain notes of the music which was playing set off the reaction. It soon drove me mad and I threw it away.

Thanks for answering Atalanta. If you tell me which one it was, I won't get that one. I listen to the car radio a lot and wouldn't want that happening. But I do still want one.

Asking for a sound sensitive keyfinder that isn't sensitive to sound is a tall order notafish.

not something I'm interested in, but I noticed some in the pound shop last week - if they are that cheap it wouldn't matter if they didn't last long.

LEAVE. THEM. IN. YOUR DOOR. Good for knowing where they are in the event of a fire and they are always in the same place. Turn them half a bit though so they can't be poked out.

Can't recommend as such for I've not got one yet, but I'm seriously looking at the "lite" version of this at the moment given that I recently lost a bunch of keys.

The good thing about it, besides the range and direction indication, is the fact you don't have to whistle or clap.

That's all right if you're indoors, mojojo - it's when you don't know where you put them when you're out, or whether notafish is talking about car keys.... we have a big bowl in the hall and we always chuck all our keys in there when we come in.

Not cheap, but possibly bearable. Use the google product finder (froogle) or the buying site of your choice for the best deals. I'm trying to get my girlfriend interested in getting one too to avoid p&p. But it's not that cheap.

That's true OG. I have only one car key, and I thought I'd lost it at the weekend. It took me two hours to find it. It's with a bunch of keys on my key ring, and they'd all snuck into a secret pocket in my new handbag. I could have saved myself two hours if I'd had a bleeping finder.

Notafish, if the keyfinder is too sensitive stick some tape over the hole where the microphone is.

I bought one for Mr BM from the Gadget Shop. It was only about £7, but unfortunately it chooses only to work when a) the phone rings, b) the kettle whistles or c) my stepson laughs.
