German friend coming to stay need gift ideas
41 Answers
A very dear German friend of mine is coming to stay for a few days next month, and I know she will bring some gifts for us, so really would love to get her something. She is 40ish, just married (no kids) graphic designer and she doesn't come over here to the UK very often. Also due to the new airport/flying rules wouldn't want to get her something she can't fly home with. Any ideas?

Do you live somewhere picturesque nellypope .We have lots of German rellies .
Whenever they have visited they always loved a framed print of where they had stayed .Doesn't need to be large and if done by a local artist even better. My late in laws always loaded up with tins of corned beef !.They also love M&S knickers :)
They also like English tea .You could do a sort of little gift basket thingy with a pretty cup and saucer and various types of tea bags .

Hi nellypope,
How about taking in a show in London?......maybe an overnight stay.....a trip on the London Eye?......a shopping trip to Oxford Street?......or perhaps she would like a pampering session at health resort...maybe a facial/massage etc.....they start at about £80.....depends on your budget.
I would take her to see the forthcoming The Dark Knight Rises and a slap up Indian or Chinese meal afterwards....what a night! ( but thats me lol )
Hope she enjoys her stay here Nelly x

How about a book that's full of photos (in glorious colour, of course) of the British Isles? Easy to carry, easy to find a place for. As regards don't mention the war: if you go on Yahoo!Answers, then go to the Germany site, and then to the Geschichte (history) page, there's always at least one, sometimes more, question about the war. There's still a fair amount of interest in WW2 in Deutschland.
