Wedding Dress for the non-traditional
35 Answers
I have started to look for my 'wedding dress' recently and have decided I do not want a typical wedding dress (big, white, weddingy). I would like something knee length, possibly cream coloured but would like it to be something that I could wear again (more relaxed than your typical wedding dress). I like the vintage style that is so popular right now but I am struggling to find anything online or on the high street.
Can anyone suggest shops/brands for me to check out for a reasonably priced dress that's nice but wearable?!
I am still scouring vintage shops but have yet to find what I want.
Thanks GF

I have a suggestion for your boquet, you could have a non-traditional one made of vintage broaches instead of flowers. They look stunning when the light catches them. You could make your own from broaches donated from friends to make it very special. Check it out http:// www.fan cypants ...ign- a-brooc h-bouqu et/

This dressmaker is fantastic and will adapt her designs to suit. My newly acquire D.I.L. used her. We live in Norfolk and everything was done by email!! Her prices are very reasonable. D.I.L had a cream dress, kneee length and looked beautiful. She sends out colour swatches and will make the dress in any of the colours. DIL had the bodice of one dress with the skirt of another, and it did look very vintage.

Sounds good Lottie - I think after you have done the serious bits it's time to unwind and have fun so party is the way forward. The fear I have with a dressmaker is that I am not a girly girl really so rarely wear dresses. Because of this Im unsure of what suits. I suppose I should just go try on lots of dresses to see the style and shape
Oh wow...this has brought back memories... I was a 'junior bridesmaid' at my sisters wedding in 1957(I think)...and wore one just like this in turquoise
