Im sure everyone has seen these t-shirts and things, but what do the letters C.B.G.B & O.M.F.U.G actually stand for?

when i first read your question i had no idea what t-shirts you were talking about - so i fired up google to see  what i could see.

i've had a look round and i'm none the wiser! but the basic answer to your question...

cbgb = country bluegrass blues

omfug = other music for uplifting gormandizers

just a note - CBGB's is a club/music venue in New York, famous for being one of the first venues The Ramones played at.  It's still going strong today and a good place to check out up and coming acts.

Not really going strong. CBGB's is threatened with closeure. Owner will not pay owing back rent as owner of building will put rent up. Thus ensuring that the club that is officially regarded as being the spiritual home of punk, will close forever. See this months Uncut Magazine.
