Can anyone tell me why Tecos in Brighouse start closing their tills every lunch time at about 12-30 you think you have found short queue and the assistant seems to delight in telling you ' I am closing' it isnt just one till either. that leaves about 5 tills open at what must be one of their busiest time of the day
the self service jobs are not much better either, with poor harrassed assistant struggling to keep calm.

I assume staff are going on a lunch break. You could let the store manager know of your concerns
You have to remember their slogan;

Very little help!
Staff and going on their lunch breaks and they have no additional lunch cover. Its obvious to us that they need an extra three people on a 12noon to 3pm shift but that's far to sensible!
Another disgrace from Tesco's.

Here are my two beefs:

1. Truro store - go to the men's and it's always a disgrace, good-sized puddles under the urinals. Not to gross you out, but splash around in those and back out and walk around the store............someone ought to get one of those ultra-violet probes that those "Two Cleaning Women" on the TV use (Aggie and somebody)

2. Any one notice the rapid increase on their premium ready meals, circa £5-50 end November and then they became £6 to £6-50 and now, as the horse meat scandal hit, they are now over £7. It does lead one to thinking that those who buy ready meals (sometimes for my mater), will continue to buy them but move up in the range.......I would suggest that we have some serious price-gouging going on and it's disgraceful.

Any Tesco employees here wish to get an answer to this and let us know? Personally, I think this a story ready for the AOG Mail......
I can't answer your specific question but I can tell you that Tesco has faired worst in a Which? survey of British supermarkets.

I am fortunate that I have all of the supermarkets within easy reach, personally I avoid Tesco as I find the staff, offering and erratic pricing tedious.
DTC, are you sure they're Beefs?
I'd put it down to incompetence. As i do when I see how few bank staff are on the counter at lunchtimes too. Golden rule is if those in charge can mess it up, they will.
It could be worse. I was once in a store (Roy's, in Sudbury, Suffolk) and just approaching a till when the assistant told me very brusquely, "I'm closing; you'll have to go to another till". I started to protest, "But . . ", which only resulted in a glare from her and the repeated firm instruction "Go to another till!" as she started to walk away. She'd gone several strides before I succeeded in drawing her attention to the fact that hers was the only till which was open!
I use self service anyway. I can't remember the last time I used a manned till.
Tesco are giving double clubcard points on burgers and petrol starting on Monday.

The deal is called only fuel and horses.
I bet its as factor fiction says, staff are going on the lunch break but questions should be asked why are staff all going at the same time, why ot stagger them so lessens the impact on the queues.
