Okay for work. Good with jeans, shorts, casual skirt. You could survive with just these.

For a guy, I'd be tempted to say ... Some sort of deck shoe?
Although, I must say that flip flops are very slippery on wet pavements.

trainers included as they would be a pair of Fila, comfortable and long lasting, if shoes, then i expect something flat and comfy.
Docs - last for ever, good for work or casual.

I wear them every day for work, and occasionally on weekends and holidays.
