Smart Phones And Identity Cards

So if you use a smart phone (I hardly ever use mine) ... particularly if you are Cloud enabled ... and you buy things online ... and you social network ... there is a computerised record of

Who you are
Where you live
Your bank and credit card details
Where you go
WHEREVER and whenever you go
Who your friends are
What you text
Whom you text
What you buy
Where you buy it
When you buy it
How often you buy it
What you Google
What photographs you have on your phone
When you took them
Where you were when you took them (to within a few feet)
All the numbers you dial on your phone
What games you play
What Apps you like
Where you are now, if you have your phone with you
Where you were this afternoon

Oh, I'm going to stop there ... the list could go on for ever. You get the gist.

But now, I'm trying to remember why there was such uproar about the idea of identity cards. I had a vague feeling that it was something to do with objecting to our privacy being invaded by faceless organisations with computer databases.

But obviously that can't have been the reason, can it?
