I have a number of email addresses in an assortment of names. Twice today I have received emails from ‘Amazon’ addressed to a name that has never been used to purchase anything from Amazon – one with thanks for being such a good customer (which I’m not particularly) and offering me a £50 discount on my next purchase if I ‘click here to download the voucher’. The emails look absolutely genuine – but I have, of course, deleted them. Has anyone else had anything like this?

Not from Amazon, but from plenty of other respected companies that I've never purchased from. Most modern e-mail clients allow you to check where you are likely to end up when you click a link - if you hover your mouse over the link, it should tell you where it actually goes to, rather than where it is pretending to take you.

Thanks Kevin and Methyl. There's no way I would ever click on any suspect email. I too receive similar from those purporting to be banks and Paypal, but never from 'Amazon' before - and these emails do look incredibly authentic I thought it wise to let everyone know it's happening. Beware!
We had this one and reported it to Amazon. It is a SCAM. Do not reply, delete!
