Thank you for the answers so far, should have mentioned that I don't have a lot of money to spare but I have seen a few nice silver bracelets (for babies) online that don't cost a great deal and I actually still have a bracelet given to me at my christening.

You can pick up little boxes for their first milk teeth and / or a lock of their hair to be kept. Samuels used to sell them.

I always get books, a nice little box set if I can. I went to a christening last week and got a box set of Brambly Hedge books from Waterstones, though the Book People usually have a few good ones.
