Printer Not Working With Cheap Ink

hi there....i wonder if anyone can help....i have an epson sx125 printer which has worked just fine with cheap ink cartridges until now. i have put 3 different full sets of ink in the damn thing and it is still showing as empty and not working. is it a problem with the ink or the printer? i am loathe to go out and buy £30 of 'prope'r ink and put that towards a new printer than have the same thing happen again. any answers/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does it not print ? Or is it just error message but still prints ? Try shaking cartridges a bit before installation....more likely to be printer that's a problem....try uninstalling printer then Re- install....

I know it sounds crazy but, I had a similar problem, got over it by taking all the cartridges out turning the printer off at the mains then turned it back on then inserted the cartridges, which seemed to clear the problem, ( worth a try).
