In mid-late May I bought a pair of jeans from Peacocks, at the end of last week when I went to iron them I noticed they're practically worn through in several places. They've been washed 4 or 5 times. I paid 14 for them and for that price I hardly expect them to last me 10 years but in a few more wears they'll be unwearable, if I took them back would they refund my money or not? They are very worn on the hems but as I said they've only been laundered 4 or 5 times. Advice please!!

10 years !! Are you being serious ? You do not get a good pair of jeans for less than 65 these days - let alone 14 !! I know it sounds harsh - but to be honest you do get what you pay for, therefore I do not believe you have grounds for a refund. I would just chuck them out, buy a new decent pair of jeans and put it down as a bad experience. You should always spend the most money on clothes you wear the most - therefore if you do wear jeans a lot it really is worthwhile investing in a good pair - not just because they will last longer, but you will also get a much better cut.

thanks for your answer. If I had 65 to spend on one pair of jeans I don't think I'd be spending 14, do you?

I'm sorry my last reply sounded a bit harsh, it wasn't meant to be
Dont think you do them any good ironing em.You should go charity shops(I do),you can pick up good brand names really cheap.
I would never pay 65 for a pair of jeans.I think they should have lasted you a bit longer..but I don't think you stand much chance of refund really as you have washed and worn them a few times.Which is a shame. My son buys jeans from Primark which cost 4 a pair and they wash and wash with no problem.Plus, he wears them for work and they get really dirty.
I always wash jeans inside out in a non bio liquid,on a low setting 40c, and never iron them.Always spin them on a low setting and let them dry on the line .
i would take them back, if they sayno they say no, but its worth a try if they have only been worn a couple of times. x
Try taking them back - the worst they can say is no! I took back some shoes that cost me 5 - after 8 days I'd worn a hole in them. They looked worn, but as you say - they might be cheap, but you expect them to last longer than that.

If you still have the receipt, I would definitely take them back & ask them to change them for another pair. 14.00 or not, they are obviously faulty - stick to your guns, I would!!

(I don't think they would refund your money, as it's gone over the 28 day return agreement).

Hi funkychicken...personally, I'm always a great believer in taking back.  What have you got to loose?  Just explain you've washed as directed on the label and they have washed up to an unsatisfactory quality and you'd like your money back/another pair.   Just a handy bargin tip for the future, don't know where you're based but if you ever visit one of those shopping outlets then you may get some bargainous jeans there...I went to the one in Oxford and got some Levi's for 35, should have been 60...but there were some there which were 30 for two pairs...I live nowhere near Oxford but just went as a day out really!  Let us know how you get on and good luck.
How did you get on funkychicken?
