I have never been to Manchester christmas market before, is it anywhere near to The Opera House as I am going there one afternoon this week. Thanks.

Not too far. The Christmas Market(s) are not all in the same place though, there are 9 of them spread out across the city centre. See the brochure: http://www.manchester.gov.uk/downloads/download/5525/christmas_markets_2013_brochure
