Anyone else watch this? I am obviously a numpty as it never occurred to me that 'brands' would make sub-standard goods to sell cheaply in discount stores. (I bought two pairs of Kickers that turned out to be broccoli (one from TXMaxx for a knock-down price and one from Sports Direct at full Kickers price) needless to say, I have just sent Kickers an email to ask if they produce different standard goods for these stores), makes you think though.

I can happily say I've never stepped foot in TXMaxx.

I have been in TK ONCE, the fact the stock was all over the floor put me right off.

I didn't type broccoli - I typed a word that indicates that something is rubbish.

Ummmm - there is v little choice of shop here so sourcing shoes is a bit tricky. I have only ever bought shoes there although himself did get me a coat from there. I don't mind if stuff is last season, I do mind if you think you are buying a certain brand and them get inferior stuff made by that brand.

They all do that. My stepdad worked in cans and packing many, many years ago. All the cheap own-brands are made by the named brands, just in different boxes.

Pixie, I don't mind buying brand labels in own-brand tins I do object to thinking I am buying something that is brand quality but is, in fact, tatt.

Sher what was wrong with the Kickers from Sports Direct? I've been looking at that site with a view to buying some.

I'm not snobby about it, Sher, I was told it's a bit mental so never bothered checking it out.

I only go into Primark if I'm in town early before people mess everything up.

Sherrardk, you purchased the brand name from two different stores and the quality was poor. Perhaps the quality of the of the brand has deteriorated, and it wouldn't matter which store you bought them from.

I avoid all shops if possible, I loathe it. I hate TKMaxx and Primark and Sports Direct with equal passion!

Ladybirder - I bought 3 pairs of Kickers at the same time, thing 1's Kickers are still going strong and she is terrible with shoes, both boys Kickers wore through in the soles at the same time, they were hollow, like trainer soles but the girl shoes have a solid sole. At the time I complained (to my money back for both pairs from the shops concerned but Kickers couldn't have cared less). After seeing this programme, I now doubt the quality of the shoes sold at the discount stores.

I've thought for a long time that these branded stores make clothes of inferior quality to flog off as reduced stock in these outlet places. Next always seem to have rails and rails of utter Sugar when their sales are going on, lots of decent stuff reduced yes but a whole heap of stuff that has never seen the inside of a Next store before the sales.

I like Primark, you pay nothing and you know it's crap :)

Freeport! There's a blast from the past. They built one a few miles from me and it was like a test project for a wind farm. All gone now.
I did get a great Tog24 jacket mind you, 16 years so far. :)

Stewey, I also bought a girl's pair of Kickers from an on-line shoe shop and the quality of those is fantastic as have all the other pairs of Kickers I have bought. The uppers on the boys shoes was fabulous, just the soles (quite an important factor) was rubbish.
