I`ve sold something on Ebay and the buyer said that she awaits my feedback before payment. Isn`t the norm to give feedback after someone pays? After all, they might not pay. Do some buyers expect feedback first?

Really inconvienient i know. If you do eventually have to open a dispute and you dont get a payment from her, ebay gives a final value fee. This is on their website:-
How can I get a credit or refund of the final value fee?
This fee applies whether or not you complete the sale with the buyer.
If a buyer backs out and doesn't buy the item, you can open a case in our Resolution Centre to work it out with the buyer. If the case isn't resolved or you mutually agree not to go through with the transaction, you can request a final value fee credit to your eBay account when you close the case. Also, if you cancel the transaction in our Resolution Centre and the buyer agrees, you can receive a final value fee credit or refund.

SJ, although I would allow for differences between how e-bay works in the U.K., vs how it works here in the U.S., I found, sometime ago, if you set up your preferences to do so, it's much simpler to let e-bay take care of the no-pay customers we all experience from time to time.
In my case, ff the sale languishes in the "Sold" bracket for over 5 days, e-bay contacts the buyer and if the payment isn't forthcoming in 7 days, the sale is cancelled, you get the seller's fee credited back and the buyer has a black mark in their feedback.
You can do the same thing by going to the 'Resolution Center' and opening a case there. You wouldn't have to wait the 5 days in that situation.
In either case, I would send a friendly sounding reminder to the buyer that you can't ship the item until payment is received… e-bay uses that as good faith on your part in an attempt to resolve the issue...

I have been caught out by 100% feedback people who, when you read the comments, have things like - time waster. Did not pay. Will make appointment and not turn up etc. This is because for while eBay has not allowed seller to give negative rating. I spoke to eBay and soon they are changing this back to allow sellers to tell it like it is.
