The hair would be cleaned before being made into a wig. I can't see why it wouldn't be safe. I'm a slaphead myself and I'd be interested in these wigs. Are they expensive and where could I get one?
It might be uncomfortable but why would it be dangerous? Do you mean that you think you might lose more of your own hair if you wear a wig?
Sandy you don't need a wig. You have a posh hat.
but when I doff it the world and his wife sees I've lost my thatch
But your wig might come away with your hat then you'd look daft!
Me daft? Never. ;-)
I agree with that, sandy. :-)
Superglue the wig sandy but do make sure there's no glue on the outside, you'd never get your hat off.
Then you'd have to wear it in the bath!
Whiskeyron, are you speaking from experience? I notice your Stetson is never off your head in the avatar pic. :-)
Touché, Sandy. Or should that be toupée?
Where wigs inherently unsafe there would be no market for them. In ye olden days maybe they had their fair share of wildlife, but now-a-days you maintain them they should be fine. But if you react somehow you can always stop wearing one.

You don't say how severe your loss is, but you could, oh course, develop a self image that needs no crowning glory. Difficult at first because it's not common for the ladies to embrace the look, but once you have freed yourself from the need to hide your lack of hair then you have great freedom from stress.
people are wandering off topic with impressive speed these days
A response from smithshirley may have helped this stay on topic.
not the OP's job to get people to obey the rules. You just wait till I'm a mod, I'll sort you out - brandishes horsewhip
Also it has been only on hour or so -- who's to say that OP didn't disappear off to have breakfast, go to work etc.?

Human hair wigs are safe to wear, no problem. Make sure to stick to the cleaning guidelines provided with the wig. If all else fails you can go for a synthetic wig, though these are both cheaper and (usually) not so convincing.
But the first two sentences in the first answer gave all the reassurance necessary.
I confess my posts tend to wander these days.
It was my fault. I was the one who strayed.
There's no need for recriminations. We drifted and I'll try not to do it again. ;-)
say three Hail Sandys and repent. I believe Sandy's initial answer was correct: wigs are perfectly safe and worn by many who don't even need them. You will need to follow any instructions given about how to put them on and take them offand keep them clean. And keep long hair away from operating machinery, whether it's on a wig or your own.
