How Many Shirts Is Reasonable?

I have been told by Mrs K. that I have an unreasonable amount of shirts talking up too much space. I have just counted them and I have 48 (not including T-shirts etc.). This does sound quite a lot I admit, but is it excessive? How many shirts do most men have?

Depends on the man- my dad has a whole room full of clothes as do some of my brothers and my one brother just has a chest of drawers which houses all his stuff. My ex boyfriend also had virtually no clothes (I'd guess 6 ish shirts), so it seems a matter of taste. If you like them keep them, if you don't sell them / give them away.

Anything less than one washing machine load (5 or 6?) would be an inefficient use of water/cleaning products and electricity. Heating up the iron and then only doing two shirts, for example, would, similarly, be a waste of electricity (although you are big on wind/solar, in Germany, I gather).

Errr, this would not be a wise move :0) However, I'm encouraged by some of your replies, if I should offload a few I now know where to send them, I think OG certainly deserves more that 2.

I recently took 6 sacks of husbands shirts and trousers he doesnt wear to charity shop. Down to about 15 shirts now.

My OH has loads. He doesn't wear them but I'm not allowed to throw them out.

I can sometimes pick up more than 20 shirts from the cleaners and Mr Cake still has enough for another fortnight and that's just his formal shirts. Add on his Friday shirts and casual shirts and he has err.....a lot of shirts.

No and I'm not sure what difference it would make if I was ! What possible concern is of anybody how many shirts Khandro or I have ? Men are quite capable of washing and ironing their own shirts. I have done a quick check and I have 22. It would have been more but I took about 25 to the charity shop in the Spring, as I am never going to get into a 15-16 collar shirt again, ever !. Some trousers went the same way, and three tweed jackets.

Lots of room in my wardrobes to but some more shirts now !

I have between 12 and 15. If I buy a new one I make space for it by ditching one.

Its about time us men stood up to this bullying from the family females that some seem to be plagued with Khandro...we have nothing to lose but our testicles !

I was at a work training day earlier in the year and I mentioned that I had found a shop that sold genuine Cornish Pasties, nearby in Monmouth.

This is one of my passions as "proper" pasties are difficult to find this side of the Tamar....my village bakery, for instance, seems to think that its a good idea to put peas in theirs. PEAS !

When I told the assembled sisters on my table that I celebrated this wonderful discovery by purchasing 2 and had one for lunch and one for my tea, there was a shocked silence. You could have been forgiven for thinking that I had farted or something similar. Eventually one of these stick-thin creatures asked me what my wife thought about me eating 2 pasties in one day. I replied that I don't have a wife and even if I had, I wouldn't be asking her permission or guidance on what I should eat !

Shock and horror followed in abundance ! I enjoyed my moment of rebellion enormously !
