Ajustable Beds

I would like to hear from anyone who has an adjustable bed, what is a good make ? are they noisy? do they take up more space than a normal divan, and do the legs raise up enough to stop you sliding down? I have only just started to think about this and your advice would appreciated, thanks.

We had one once - it was made by Adjustamatic I think. We didnt like it and because there was a fault with one of the motors we returned it and got the money back (though only after matter went to court and was ruled in our favour).

My mother had an adjustable bed some years back and it was much larger in all dimensions than a normal bed (to accommodate the machinery) and it was very heavy. Not noisy though, she operated it from a hand control. She could raise both top and leg ends, and found it very comfortable.

I have one, it was bought from Tesco about 7 years ago. It isn't as good as the ones they have in hospitals these days, I slide down in it a lot because the leg raise angle seems to be 'wrong'. It is the same size as a normal single divan and the lifting/lowering mechanism is fairly quiet, it seems loud in the middle of a quiet night but really isn't, it doesn't wake my other half anyway.

They are slightly bigger than a normal bed. They aren't noisy, unless you use an air-flow mattress and then you get some "humming". Some people like them and some don't, so purely personal choice really.

thanks for your replies, I might go ahead and try one as I suffer badly from reflux problems, its nice to know what others think.

if they are as good as the ones used in hospitals , not noisy and more comfortable than ' ordinary hospital beds ',
