91St Birthday Ideas - Help!
36 Answers
My gran is 91 next week and we are all totally stumped as to what to give her so hoping I could get some fresh ideas from the helpful folk on here. The main problem is, she doesn't like very much these days so -she doesn't want plants or flowers, she's got plenty of artificial plants, she doesn't want ornaments, doesn't like candles , not mad about chocolates, gets plenty of family photos throughout the year and has a kindle already. There's not much left to choose from!
To add to your challenge; things I can get online would be appreciated as I've got Labyrinthitis at the moment so , amusing as it may be, I don't fancy staggering sideways through the shops leaving a trail of destruction.
Thanks in advance.

Frognog, it took all my persuasion for my kids not to give her the bumps on her 90th so tempting, but no.
Mazie, we are taking her out for afternoon tea on her birthday which she'll enjoy ( although she won't let on, some days she communicates entirely through tuts and hhmms. )
She's still in pretty good nick physically and mentally, just not that interested in much anymore and gets tired easily.
Thanks people, keep them coming.

And my final suggestion is a Chris Packham DVD of some description. In general ladies love him and he's interesting with it.

Lots of good ideas, thank you all.
I like the idea of the ceramic poppy or adopting an animal on her behalf - think she would be pleased with that.
now that I'm armed with a few suggestions I'll have a pow wow with my mum ( who is also drawing a blank ) and we'll get it sorted. I knew I could count on you lot :-).

Does she have a garden? Maybe a bird feeder and/or a bird bath? The family of an elderly friend of mine who was 90 last year got her those and she gets a lot of pleasure from all the different birds that have been attracted into the garden, she even bought herself a small book to identify them.
I bought a friends 90 year old mum a selection of royal jelly products from Boots...bath stuff, talc, body lotion, etc...which seemed to go down well.
Or maybe a hamper made up of things you know she likes..cakes, biscuits, nice tissues, sweeties, fancy soap/hand wash, small pretty flannel, pair of soft bedsocks, small soft cushion, an indoor type scarf, pretty brooch.

What about having a star named after her? There's [email protected] or international star registry or starlistings .co.uk. In fact, quite a few sites. I wish her a very happy birthday.
What about a bottle of Baillies? Most older ladies LOVE that stuff.
Ying, sorry to hear about your Labyrinthitis. I had that many years ago. It took ages to clear up and a ton of SERC tablets(I think) to sort it out. I wish you well asap.

Thanks tamborine, she does like CDs and that one looks like her kind of stuff.
Janbee, the stars a nice idea - I've done it for a few people but I think she'd consider it a waste of money and would rather I spent the money on sponsoring an animal or charity donation.
Thank you for support re. Labyrinthitis . It is an unpleasant sensation, today I felt as if everything was vibrating violently. When it's passed and I'm off the tablets , I think I'll treat myself to a bottle of baileys ( I'm happy to share if you'd like some)
