I have just been told that the lifespan of a bra is only expected to be about 6 months. Really?

Obviously depends on the load being carried and how often it carries that load, comparable to a dumper truck really, if you carry heavy and frequent loads it aint gonna last as long!

So no ladies on AB, or no ladies who wear bras?

I've got 3 sets from 2007 so I think she's talking BS.
How white are they though?
Much the same here, Ladybird
I would expect a lot longer than 6 months, but I recently bought some from Debenhams (their own make, I think) and one of them has sprung its wires already. Only about a month or so old.
Much longer than six months at the price of some of them !
Mine last because I always wash them by hand .I think once you start chucking them in the washing machine they lose colour or go grey eventually if you always wear a white bra or the underwires disappear never to be seen again .
That IS BS. They're only saying that cos they want you to waste your money. Anyway it depends how many bras you've got. I've got quite a few, so they each have a turn, so it might be a while before a particular bra gets another go.
I can make them last a couple of years at least, maybe because I am only an A cup so there is no real weight to make the fabric sag and stretch.
Stop it, girls, you're getting me aroused.
I think 6 months is crazy, I try to make my last a lot longer.
This is misleading. You dont wear same bra every day. There are some (racier) bras in my drawer that only come out on special occasions. So after 6 months they might have not been worn at all!
Mine get so little wear that they'll last a lifetime.....x
I've had some of mine for a decade......

One of mine has blown the wire hence hence the phone call to the supplier today. I didn't expect them to replace it as it is 3 years old but I wondered if they could supply me with a new wire but they only supply the whole garment. The ones I buy are nearly £40 each so not cheap.
Jan, I only have one white bra which I wear very rarely. The one I was complaining about is a grey/brown plus a bit of pink embroidery and I have three of those. I wear all my bras in rotation as well same as marijn.
2sp I hope you got your money back, that's outrageous.
shaney I was also told I should never have machine washed it.
I do so enjoy these threads............can't believe Sqad isn't here yet!
I've heard the term 'over shoulder boulder holder', but to liken a bra to a dumper truck seems a tad extreme ;-)
I have big boobs and have two the I wear around the house. I can't wear either of them when I go out as I keep my keys in the let cup and my phone in the right. My 'indoor' bras are loose and the keys/phone tend to fall out.

I have a Triumph Doreen bra for days that I feel brave enough to venture into the world. It is almost, but not quite, white but that is due to my lack of skills with a washing machine. These bras are truly delightful to I take off. I never realise how controlled my boobs are until I let them fee at night. Such a relief to take it off - like an elastic bandage around you all day. All firm bras are like that for me.

wolf have you been fitted properly for a bra? Because a properly fitting bra should not be uncomfortable. I don't even know I've got mine on.

RATTER behave!

Sqad must be sleeping off his lunchtime tipple at his club.
Mine tend to last about a year, regardless of how much I pay out. I never wear a bra at home, unless I am expecting visitors. Bra's feel horribly restricting!
