Big Toenail Infection

After a fungal nail infection, and having tried several over the counter remedies my large toenail finally gave up and gradually went soft and disintegrated and now I don't have one. I am not in any pain or discomfort, so it seems I can't get an appointment quickly at any podiatrist/chiropodist. There appears to be no new growth - will it ever grow back? What am I to do ? my other toenails are very dry and brittle looking, and I'm worried about those turning against me too. I do clean properly and change cotton socks every day, alternate footwear etc and use talc.

Problem is that once the infection is in one toe its likely in the others already. I have no big toenails, had em both off and the nail beds chemically burnt out years ago ( rugby injuries). Unless you're particularly vain about wearing sandals of flip flops don't know that it's a huge issue, unless ya tootsies start falling off.... docs didn;t say that would happen!!!

This is not a big deal.

The toenail is not re-growing because there may be residual infection.

If your health is good and you do not have pain in the toes, then "live with it."

However if you feel that something needs to be done then antifungal tablets (e. lamisil) will have to be taken daily for at least 3 months.

bond i suffer as well with this. my nails are almost black now,and the itching was unbearable. i found a website www.thepeoplespharmacy.com.using listerine [ the mouthwash] it stopped the itching almost instantly. please look on the site there is loads of help on there
