__Would be appreciative of anybody who can verify the above statement. Apparently, such shirts considerably hem the natural ventilation of the material. Natural cotton sourced from Egypt and Peru is far better. Comments please. Thank you.

Harm not hem?
well, ammonia is wee (or wee is ammonia). You wear a shirt soaked in....
// Some clothing manufacturers take it one step further and treat the baked-in-formaldehyde clothing with liquid ammonia to reduce shrinkage.//

Snap!!
:)
Mosaic,Ammonia is not just 'wee'or associated with it.

The link provided by scorpiojo is written by an association that makes bamboo fibre clothes . It is strongly biased and basically rubbish.
^^ also Ammonia is a gas not a liquid. What it is talking about is ammonia solution, water with ammonia dissolved into it.
Apologies
Why apologise Jo,my link was the same and if not exact enough for some then fair enough.

//Wrinkle free/ non-iron shirts are produced in two ways

the first is made in a very expensive factory.
shirts seams are glued together during stitching, to prevent puckering, then dipped in a solution and then baked.
there are some made to measure programs that offer this process.

the second is to use pre cured fabric. this fabric is dipped in an ammonia bath during the finishing process.//

For my own part I think it is a waste of money and would buy poly cotton and dry on a hanger, worked for me.

Does anyone actually iron things anymore?
