Laptop cut out when I was using it and won't come back on in any way at all. The LED on the power pack goes out when I plug it into the laptop, and only comes back on if I unplug it at both ends and then plug it back in at the wall. Seems something is shorting it(?)
Laptop is Lenovo z570.
Thanks
How old is the laptop? Have you got access to another power lead? Does it work on just battery power? Have you tried plugging it into the charger with the laptop battery removed?
2 years or so I think but it would be tricky to return I bought it from Germany and regretted it ever since!
I tried all of these things and had no joy at all. I only have the one charger and lead.
Replacing the motherboard would probably be a futile exercise in a laptop unless you happen to be a systems builder with good knowledge of how to dismantle and rebuild a laptop. Get someone to look at it for you and hope it's an easy fix. I fear you may need a new laptop though.
I think the cooling fan may have expired as did happen to my previous old laptop. Wasn't worth repairing due to age of laptop. Your symptoms are very similar to those that mine had.
Lenovo is sold far and wide. They are sold in Sainsburys supermarket and John Lewis in the UK. I'm sure there would be a UK based service agent. Failing that any PC repair shop of which there are many in my area (Surrey) would look at it for you.
