When Something Is Not Meant To Be

I have been coveting a floor rug from Laura Ashley but could not justify spending the £70 it cost. I spotted the identical rug on Ebay for £25 but misread the end time of the auction and missed it by minutes. Yesterday we went to a jumble sale in aid of church hall funds. It was one of the most vicious jumbles I have been to....women snatching items from other women's hands, elbows being dug in ribs etc. I bought so little that my chief bag carrier (Mr O) was redundant. When we emerged from the fray and were making our way back to the car he said
"You know that rug you like? I saw one quite like it but it can't have been Laura Ashley because the woman who bought it only paid 50p for it. Oh look, there she is."
When I looked....yes, you have guessed it....it was the £70 rug I have been after. Grrrr.
It is not meant to be is it?

If Mr O had been properly trained he would not have been brave enough to mention the rug at the jumble sale. You obviously don't terrify him enough.

Yes, the £70 one woud have ben pristine and fresh.

Who knows what fluids may have been absorbed into the 50p one.
