Robbery
15 Answers
My poor daughter had a robbery last night. They hardly ever go out, but last night we had the baby and they went to a party . This morning they discovered they and next door had been robbed. Poor thing, all her jewellery that had more sentimental value than anything else, except for a Cartier ring we had bought her when she graduated. My heart is bleeding for her, I went through the same thing a 6 or 7 years ago . What *** these people are. I hope they choke on the proceeds.

Herer we tend to think they are the Romainian illegal immigrants, although I know the one who blatantly robbed my house at 4.00 was South american. I actually walked passed him on the path leading to my house. I doubt they caught him either, certainly I never got anything back.
In the 80,s, my husband left the house early evening and left his key in the front door overnight. Someone politely came in, lifted his music centre, had a peek in the drawers in the bedroom, and must have calmly walked out.
Nothing else was taken or destroyed thank god. Scumbags.
Never found out who came in while away from house all night.
I feel very sorry for your daughter sam.

Aelmpvw. It's easy to see physically. Also I had had a South American cleaner, who I had to fire, as she had stolen a necklace and then miraculously found it under the bed when I queried her.. The scumbag know exactly where to go and look for my jewellery box, more fool me though for not bothering to put it in the safe. Until it happens to one, we are so complacent. My son was actually downstairs at the time and the *** climbed through a bedroom window and went straight to my bedroom. At 4.00 p.m.
Thanks for all your sympathy guys. My daughter is at the police station now reporting it while I am with the baby ( asleep). Apparently my SIL had seen a suspicious character in an old banger the other evening just sitting. He took a photo of him. It will take her ages to get over this, it's if you have been violated, them opening and rummaging through all your drawers and niknacks
My Mum`s neighbour was burgled a couple of years ago. I expect they tried my Mum`s door as well but she always double locked it and the neighbours didn`t. The thief stole (among other things) their Oyster card and used it on a bus in Wembley. Even though they had that data and the cctv footage on the bus the thieves were never caught. They hardly ever are.
What you need to do now is to work out how they got in and take steps to avoid it happening again, particularly when the thieves think you've received their insurance money and replaced the stolen items.
Were they careless eg, left a window open, didn't dead-lock the doors? Have they got window locks? Do they leave a light on etc. It sounds like an opportunist job if both they and the neighbours were robbed. We had our garage broken into many years ago, so I have lots of sympathy, but on the insurance claim form I was asked what steps I'd taken to avoid it happening again.
